KERATOMETER MEASURING TECHNIQUE Aligning the Instrument If the keratometer is too high or low in relation to the patient’s eye, the body of the instrument can be moved up or down with the knob that is closest the the examiner near the base. Be sure the lock of the left side is loosened which allows the instrument to move up and down. If the body of the keratometer is near upper or lower limit of its movement, the patient can be raised or lowered by moving the chinrest up or down using the knob in front of the one to raise and lower the instrument body.
